Graeme Edge, the drummer for Moody Blues, has died at age 80.

“It’s a very sad day,” began the statement on Edge’s social media pages announcing his passing. “Graeme’s sound and personality is present in everything we did together and thankfully that will live on.” As of right now, his cause of death is unknown.

Edge was with Moody Blues from the beginning in 1964, from writing poetry for the band to drumming for years to come, and he also ventured into numerous solo projects. He was, along with the rest of the band, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

“To me he was the White Eagle of the North,” Moody Blues’ bass player, vocalist, and songwriter John Lodge tweeted in tribute to his late band member. “With his beautiful poetry, his friendship, his love of life and his “unique” style of drumming that was the engine room of the Moody Blues… I will miss you Graeme….”
