Major League Baseball has decided that they want to test out a new rule to help shorten games and keep baseball exciting. This new rule can be found in the 10th inning and later and will drastically change the way extra innings is played. Joe Torre, the MLB Chief Baseball Officer, has come out and said that baseball at lower levels will be testing out starting every extra inning with a runner on second base. This means that in the 10th inning and later the team batting will start with a runner on second.
This kind of rule can easily be found in youth baseball and helps shorten games, but we’re not quite sure it should be found in the highest of levels of baseball. Torre has said that this new rule will be tested in two rookie leagues this season, the Gulf Coast League and Arizona League.
This was definitely an interesting and wild rule change idea to wake up to you. What are your thoughts on this potential new rule in the MLB?
