The MLB home run record has been broken, but it’s not the one you are thinking of. No, nobody has broken the record for most home runs in a season by a player, but instead this year we have seen the most home runs period! On Tuesday, Alex Gordon of the Kansas City Royals broke the record by hitting the 5,694th home run in 2017.

Alex Pressley of the Detroit Tigers tied the record when he hit his home run against Oakland earlier in the night. Ever since the steroid era ended, home runs have been down, but we have seen the MLB project to break this record for quite some time now. See below for the top 10 home run hitters of the 2017 season…

Giancarlo Stanton – 55
Aaron Judge – 44
J.D. Martinez – 40
Khris Davis – 39
Justin Smoak – 38
Joey Gallo – 38
Cody Bellinger – 38
Logan Morrison – 36
Edwin Encarnacion – 36
Mike Moustakas – 36
