Metallica did something unusual the other day – they provided a free Pandora stream of their Minneapolis concert for fans that couldn’t get a ticket to the sold out show.
Metallica has also written a book called ‘Back to the Front,’ the inside skinny of the behind the scenes madness of their ‘Master of Puppets’ album from the 80s. The book hits the shelves and online September 13th, but will be made available on their own web site on August 30th. ‘Master of Puppets’ was released in late February of 1986 becoming the definitive brick in the wall when you consider Metallica’s impact on heavy metal. The album was the first heavy metal or thrash genre LP to go platinum, opening the door for stronger and heavier metal mobs to follow.
‘Back to the Front’ is destined to be a best seller in the heavy metal demographic, but also opens the door for all music fans to garnish a deeper understanding of the body of work Metallica has contributed to mother earth.
