Meet Fresh Face and Sound Calum Scott

The charts are filled with songs from familiar superstars like Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and Justin Timberlake. Each of these singers are selling millions of albums and selling out lengthy tours. One of the fresh faces breaking through on the music charts this week however is a British 29 year old rising star by the name of Calum Scott. Calum’s hit single “You Are the Reason” just broke through the charts as a new entry, and it’s causing quite a stir.

Here’s the very interesting backstory on Calum Scott; he won a regional British star search talent contest back in 2013, opening the door for him to join a British Maroon Five tribute band, which paid the bills. He spent the next year touring Europe pretending to be someone else. His big break came in 2015 when he earned worldwide attention as a contestant on the UK’s ‘Brittain’s Got Talent’ reality show. Simon couldn’t stop talking about his talent and voice, an endorsement that put him in the British future stars tour shortly afterward. He’s been working hard as a solo artist ever since.
