Known as the ‘Material Girl’ for her antics on and off the stage, Madonna has had her scandalous moments. She’s also quietly been a giver, a role model that is often time less publicized.
Recently, Madonna and her children journeyed back to Blantyre, Malawi for the grand opening ceremonies of the ‘Mercy James Instituted for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care,’ located in the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. The charity is designed to train local doctors for the art of performing pediatric surgery.
Madonna was once married to Sean Penn the actor, was the subject of groundbreaking documentary ‘Madonna: Truth or Dare,’ influencing young girls fashion in the 80s and 90s with that look.
How’s this for recognition? Madonna was welcomed into the UK music Hall of Fame a few years ago, was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, and she is also a member of the ‘Songwriters Hall of Fame.
