John was raised by his aunt Mimi who initially bought John a banjo at a very early age, disappointed when John traded it in for a guitar. Mimi told John he would never make any money with a guitar.

John was legally blind without glasses.

The Beatles were given the honor of the Queens ‘Most Excellent Order of the British Empire’ in 1965, but he returned the medal in protest to the war in Vietnam.
