Después de cinco temporadas en Stewart-Haas Racing, Kurt Busch está avanzando para la temporada 2019. El conductor lo anunció en un tweet el domingo por la noche, con la cuenta oficial de Twitter del equipo y el copropietario del equipo, Tony Stewart, también interviniendo.

El campeón de la serie Monster Energy de 2004 está abandonando SHR luego de acumular seis victorias allí, incluyendo el Daytona 500 2017 con el jefe de equipo Tony Gibson. Busch condujo a tiempo completo para Furniture Row Racing en 2013 y durante parte de la temporada 2012.
