On Wednesday night, November 13th, Urban delivered a powerful rendition of “We Were”  at the 2019 Country Music Awards at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Urban was nominated for two awards at the 2019 CMAs, entertainer of the year and male vocalist of the year, but went home empty-handed.

“We Were” was written by Eric Church, Ryan Tyndell and Jeff Hyde and produced by Urban and Dan Huff. It’s so far peaked at No. 7 on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart.

Urban performed a stripped-down version of “We Were” featuring little more than his own voice and acoustic guitar. Visuals behind Urban showed a morning sunrise and a starry, moonlit sky further complemented the sentimental lyrics about wayward youth.
