Joni Mitchell has officially joined Neil Young in the boycott against Spotify’s relationship with Joe Rogan and his podcast, which has been known to spread disinformation about COVID-19 and vaccinations.

“Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives,” the Canadian musician wrote in a statement. “I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”

In her statement, Mitchell cited an open letter written to Spotify by a coalition of scientists and medical professionals requesting the implementation of an anti-misinformation policy. According to the letter’s authors, Rogan has “discouraged vaccination in young people and children, incorrectly claimed that mRNA vaccines are ‘gene therapy,’ promoted off-label use of ivermectin to treat COVID-19… and spread a number of unsubstantiated conspiracy theories.”

After Young posed his ultimatum last week, Spotify agreed to remove his music from their platform as they continue to host Rogan’s podcast.

Young and Mitchell together have almost 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with Young having over 6 million and Mitchell having 3.7 million listeners.
