One of the driving forces in the greatest rock and roll band of all time the Beatles was John Lennon. John not only wrote or co-wrote all the songs, but he became a voice of a generation. To honor John the United States Postal Service releases a new forever stamp bearing his likeness on September 7th. The stamp will take on the likeness of the record sleeve of a 45 and will display the 1974 photograph used in John’s ‘Walls and Bridges’ LP.

The John Lennon stamp will also be a rarity as the back of the stamp features the white piano used in the Imagine album cover and heard on all the songs from that iconic album. Other rockers found on a U.S. Postal Stamp include Elvis, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Ritchie Valens, David Bowie and Otis Redding.
