According to a previously unheard interview, John Lennon suggested replacing George Harrison with Eric Clapton after The Beatles’ guitarist quit for a very short stint in January of 1969.

While Harrison did end up returning to the band six days later, The Beatles continuing on as the iconic band we know and love, Lennon seemed to waste no time in-between, saying that “if George doesn’t come back, we ask Eric Clapton to play.”

This recording, amongst many others, surfaces as part of Peter Jackson’s upcoming documentary, The Beatles: Get Back. The Disney+ project is said to feature the band’s final, rooftop show, as well as the making of Let It Be. The documentary will arrive in three, two-hour parts on November 25th, 26th, and 27th of this year.
