Isaac Hayes was born in poverty in Covington, TN in 1942 and lost his immediate family after his father ran out on them shortly after his birth. Isaac was raised by his sharecropper grandparents.

After graduating from high school he was offered a few music scholarships at local universities but turned these offers down to become a meat packer in Memphis by day and musician by night. Isaac wrote the Sam and Dave song “Soul Man,” a song that sits in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Isaac mastered the piano, saxophone, trombone and studio board in a way that could only inspire future generations. What you may not have known is that Isaac was a Scientologist, vegan, father of 12 and grandfather of 14. Isaac Hayes died of a sudden stroke on August 10th, 2008.

Isaac Hayes was a Grammy Award winner, actor, humanitarian, and inspiration ‘Black Moses’ of a near generation. Isaac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
