Over the last few weeks, Kesha has been battling Sony to try to get out of her contract. This all began because of reported abuse against Kesha by Dr. Luke, a producer. And with Sony not letting Kesha out of her contract, she then took it to court.
While the court has so far ruled not enough evidence to support these abuse claims, the negative publicity surrounding this entire situation is causing Sony to consider having Kesha released from her contract and even letting Dr. Luke go entirely. Many are saying that at this point it’s not about the abuse as much as it is about Sony not looking like they stand behind their musical talent. Many artists will surely reconsider working with Sony with this kind of event happening.
At this time, no decision has been made by Sony, but we would be surprised if this kind of change wasn’t made in the coming weeks.
