It’s hard to find a more talented musician than Michael McDonald. Michael was born in Ferguson, Missouri in 1952. His resume includes singing with Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, Pattie Labelle, Jack Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Christopher Cross, Aretha Franklin, and Toto.

Michael has won five Grammys and countless awards from all music genres, but what are the top songs Michael has either provide rich obvious background vocals for or been a partner in a duet?

“Yah Mo Be There” with James Ingram is one of the most soulful songs ever recorded, especially the live version.

Michel’s background vocals on the song “Ride Like the Wind” with Christopher Cross helped propel the song to huge sales and chart success.

“Piano in the Dark” with Brenda Russell is an example of a quite soft Michael McDonald background vocal; he befriended Brenda and wanted to help her any way he could.

“Katy Lied” “The Royal Scam” and “Aja” with Steely Dan are great examples of how much Michael respected and admired steely Dan, he was only too happy to help.

“On My Own” a duet with Patti Labelle was a smash for both, helping Michael spread his talents to urban fans around the world.
