Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels Dead at 83 [audio]

Charlie Daniels, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame best known for “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” died Monday morning, and confirmed by a press release from his representatives, after suffering a stroke. He was 83.

Daniels is a household name in the country music world. His most commercial success came with his legendary 1979 hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.

Daniels had performed at White House, at the Super Bowl, throughout Europe and often for troops in the Middle East.

According to a press release from his representatives, the acclaimed Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member died at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.

Daniels is survived by his wife, Hazel, and son, Charlie Daniels, Jr per The Tennessean.
