From the Lynyrd Skynyrd and Buddy Holly plane crashes, to remembering where you were when the Beatles stepped on the Ed Sullivan stage in 1964, rock and roll ‘moments in time’ are part of the soundtrack of our lives.

Bob Dylan was being hailed as the voice of the 60s generation with his folk songs and rich lyrics, but everything changed when he walked on stage at the Newport Folk Festival, July 25th, 1965, and played his entire set list with an electric guitar; the audience reaction was mixed at best.

Woodstock, the music festival in upstate New York in mid-August 1969, attracted nearly 500,000 fans, with Jimi, CSNY, and the day’s most popular stars playing for four days.

August 1st, 1981 an unknown cable channel called ‘MTV’ launched music with videos, a new idea back then. The first song played? “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles.
