Legendary Beatle Producer George Martin Has Passed Away

2016 may be remembered as the year of great loss, as David Bowie, Glenn Frey, and Robert Stigwood and others have died within the past 3 months. Now, we hear from across the pond in the UK that Sir George Martin, the man who produced all but one Beatles albums, has died at the age of 90.

The man most responsible for the direction and commercial success of the Fab Four was not an immediate fan of the boys. In fact, George walked out of their first recording session in the early 60s, but as the Beatles began to play “Love Me Do,” a wise studio engineer ran outside the building to gather George back to the session. The rest they say is Rock N’ Roll history.

George also worked with contemporary stars such as Sting, Jose Carreras, Celine Dion and Stan Getz. The movie soundtracks from the classic films of James Bond’s ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Live and Let Die’ were also produced by George.

George was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
