Typically at the end of a sporting event as a team is about to win, often times handily, the song “Na Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” can be heard roaring from the winning bleachers. The song “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” sold over eight millions copies in 1969 for the group Steam. Although it was a Billboard smash, its writer Gary DeCarlo never became a millionaire, never the musical icon he had hoped.

These days the writer of this one hit wonder Gary DeCarlo simply hopes to win his battle against cancer, returning after a clean bill health given five years ago. The song hit number one in 1969, being recorded in multiple languages such as German, Italian, Disco, Japanese and Portuguese, rap, reggae, Motown, and heavy metal. The song was prominent in the Denzel Washington film “Remember the Titans,” likely to be played over a million more times this year on the radio, heard a billion more times at sporting events live this fall.

Gary is in need to funds to battle this life threatening illness, his friends and family creating a GoFundMe account to help pay for outlandish medical expenses.
