It was two years ago that Garth Brooks released Ghost Tunes, a new platform of music similar to iTunes. This week though, the platform announced that it would be partnering up with Amazon Music now and would no longer exist as it currently does. The service sent out a mass email to its users explaining their situation earlier this week.

This service wasn’t just music. It consisted of t-shirts and posters as well. When it was opened, it opened with upwards of 10 million items on the platform! It had deals with Warner Music Group, Sony Music and Universal for their licensing.

On Ghost Tunes you even had the option to purchase Brooks’ great music. For instance, $30 got you his new album, live material and portions of his back catalog.

In the end it just wasn’t meant to be a stand alone platform and now will potentially make Amazon Music a more tempting product.
