Today is a duet of ragtag groups of outlaws and superhumans in the box office, as The Harder They Fall was just released on Netflix and Marvel’s The Eternals in theaters nationwide.

Produced by Jay-Z, who also appears on the film’s soundtrack, The Harder They Fall tells the story of outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors), who discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) is being released from prison. Love rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge, including his former love Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), his right and left-hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler)—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally. Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (Regina King) and Cherokee Bill (LaKeith Stanfield), and they are not a group that knows how to lose. This new school Western is rated R, and is directed by Jeymes Samuel. It is now available for streaming on Netflix.

The newest release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Eternals, tell the story of the superhuman group that began millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered and near-immortal beings and a more monstrous off-shoot known as the Deviants. The two races move behind the scenes throughout human history while also engaging in cosmic powerplays. Among the Eternals are Ikaris (Richard Madden), fueled by cosmic energy; Sersi (Gemma Chan), who relishes moving amongst humans; and Thena (Angelina Jolie), often mistaken for the Greek goddess Athena. The film also stars Salma Hayek, Barry Keoghan, Kit Harington, Brian Tyree Henry, Kumail Nanjiani, Don Lee, and Lauren Ridloff. Rated PG-13 and directed by Chloé Zhao, The Eternals hits theaters nationwide today.
