This Friday features a unique pair of limited releases. Flee is an animated documentary produced by Sound of Metal’s Riz Ahmed, and Silent Night has been described as an “anti-Love Actually” with a Christmas twist.

Flee is an animated documentary telling the true story about a man’s need to confront his past in order to truly have a future. Amin Nawabi arrived as an unaccompanied minor in Denmark from Afghanistan. Today, at 36, he is a successful academic and is getting married to his long-time boyfriend. A secret he has been hiding for over 20 years threatens to ruin the life he has built for himself. For the first time, he is sharing his story with his close friend and director of the film, Jonas Poher Rasmussen.

Silent Night follows parents Nell (Keira Knightley) and Simon (Matthew Goode) who have invited their closest friends to join their family for Christmas dinner at their idyllic home in the English countryside. As the group comes together, it feels like old times — but behind all of the laughter and merriment, something is not quite right. The world outside is facing impending doom, and no amount of gifts, games or Prosecco can make mankind’s imminent destruction go away. The horror comedy, directed by Camille Griffin, is out this Friday on streaming and for a limited release in theaters.
