This weekend’s box office will make movie-goers laugh-out-loud or cover their eyes, as the comedy Love in Kilnerry and horror-thriller Firestarter will be released on Friday.
Firestarter follows parents Andy (Zac Efron) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon), who have been on the run for more than a decade, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction. Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family’s location, a mysterious operative (Michael Greyeyes) is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans. Firestarter, also starring Michael Greyeyes, Gloria Reuben, Kurtwood Smith, and John Beasley, is directed by Keith Thomas and is rated R. It will be released nationwide on Friday.
Love in Kilnerry, starring Daniel Keith, Kathy Searle, Roger Hendricks Simon, Sybil Lines, Sheila Stasack, Tony Triano, and James Patrick Nelson, finds the elderly residents of a small remote town in panic after the Environmental Protection Agency announces that the government-mandated changes to their water supply needed for their chemical plant could create a bi-product that would dramatically increase their sexual libido. The sheriff struggles to maintain order and decency as mayhem ensues. This comedy is written and directed by its star, Daniel Keith, and is rated PG-13. It will be released nationwide on Friday.
