The Foo Fighters haven’t played a live event in a long time, but they’ll be back on stage soon enough as they announced this weekend that they would be paying tribute to Tom Petty during the Grammys weekend. Petty will be named the MusiCares Person of the Year, so the Foo Fitghters and others will be playing in honor of him. Others announced that will be playing at this event include Kings of Leon, Stevie Nicks, Randy Newman and Norah Jones.

This is great news out of the band that has joked about going on hiatus and having their front man, David Grohl, work on a solo career. Obviously this isn’t true after the band cleared up those rumors after people took their joke too seriously.
