If you ever get the chance to take a road trip, be sure to make it to Cleveland, Ohio and check out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Every conceivable artifact, guitar, outfit, playbill, ticket stub and photography is on display there.
A new exhibit called the “Power of Rock” has just opened, and it’s an interesting concept. The driving force behind the exhibit/film puts you in the best seat in the house; front row induction ceremonies, unusual stories by Hall of Fame inductees, film clips, and a real live IMAX feel can be found at the Hall’s Connor Theater.
The other exhibit that sounds really cool is ‘The Summer of Love’ exhibit, celebrating the 50th birthday of the San Francisco experience in 1967 that was actually called the ‘Summer of Love.’ On display is Jimi Hendrix’s purple velvet jacket, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan of the Grateful Dead’s guitar, real concert posters from the famous The Fillmore, Avalon Ballroom, and actual concert clothing worn by the Mamas and the Papas.
