They say even a broken clock is right at least twice a day, and everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame in some fashion. In music language that means every garage band can have a hit at least once in their careers before returning to Jiffy Lube as the night manager. It would be difficult to list all the terrific ‘One Hit Wonders’ but here are our favorites…

“Nobody But Me” by the Human Beinz from Youngstown, Ohio hit the charts in 1967, with this ridiculous song being used in Quentin Tarantino movies.

Although the song gets more airplay in movies these days, the Starland Vocal Band did have a top 10 with “Afternoon Delight” a song that got past the standards and ethics departments in 1976.

The Swingin’ Medallions had one colossal hit called “Double Shot (Of My Baby’s Love)” that hit the charts in 1968. John Grady McElrath the founding member and lead singer died a few weeks ago at the age of 77.

“Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam, a New York group who remained together for only one year, is played every day in sporting events worldwide.

“Judy in Disguise’” by John Fred and the Playboy Band was a smash, becoming the band’s only charted song, hitting number one in the US, Germany, the UK, and Ireland.
