The early days of Hollywood proved too much for some, those not equipped with dealing with sudden fame and fortune, turning to drugs, alcohol or other self-medication to survive. One of the icons from the 50s and early 60s, Marilyn Monroe was he poster child of such an experience, and although it’s been over 50 years since her passing, the world still wonders what it.

Now an exhibit dedicated to her life called “Essentially Marilyn: The Exhibit” will be shown at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills for a limited time. The showing will feature ‘never been seen before’ items such as childhood photos of Norma Jeane Baker her birth band, a few with handwritten notes. Other exhibit items include clothing worn on stage, television and film, with over 100 in all for fans and the curious to view.

In addition, there will be an auction after the exhibit closes in October, with 300+ items up for auction, including nearly 20 costumes from Marilyn’s films. The “Essentially Marilyn: The Exhibit” continues through the end of September at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills.
