Disco dominated the music scene for nearly a decade until nature took over and began to thin the herd, eventually rubbing out Disco by the late 70s and early 80s. Here are some of our favorite Disco hits from back in the day…

Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” became an anthem for divorced or troubled women, while “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge proved to be the supportive side of sisterhood.

“Get Down Tonight” and “That’s the Way, I Like It” two songs from KC and the Sunshine Band were great songs from a horn heavy group that made them a staple of club bands played in the 70s.

“The Hustle” by Van McCoy was a solo song from one of the most talented producers of our time. Van later went on to produce Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, The temptations and more.

Donna Summer proved to be the Queen of Disco, with ‘Love to Love You Baby” “Last Dance” “McArthur Park” and “Hot Stuff” ruling the charts.

“Night Fever” by the Bee Gees was actually a filler song to be added to the album in concert with the movie ‘Saturday Night Fever. A video of the song being recorded was also recorded by the Bee Gees in 1978, although it didn’t surface till 2004.
