Dion Francis DiMucci was born in July 1939, we know his as Dion, and we can’t thank him enough for his classic songs “Runaround Sue,” “The Wanderer” and of course the late 60s political anthem “Abraham Martin and John.”
In the late 50s, metropolitan cities like New York, Philly, or Chicago were the haven for a certain sound called ‘Doo Wop.’ On the street corner of every major intersection was the next big acapella Doo Wop group – Dion was the best of that era. Dion joined forces with his collective Belmonts, influencing every single teenager growing up in the Big Apple. One of those teens at the time was Paul Simon. Dion added his talents to the latest album from Paul Simon, on a single called “New York is My Home.”
