There’s an old saying that behind every successful man stands a great woman,. In rock and roll, there stands three kingmakers, the men behind three iconic bands that changed the course of music. Their names are Robert Stigwood, George Martin, and Murray Wilson. Let’s spend a little time getting to know the man that may have had the best ears in all of music – George Martin.

The very first records George produced were comedy and novelty discs, Peter Sellers and Anthony Hopkins were his first projects. George was talked into signing the Beatles after meeting with Brian Epstein, listening to a little tape. Keep in mind George had not seen the boys play live, or had even met them; now he’s signed them!

George’s strength was his uncanny use of non-traditional rock instruments and arraignments, not yet head in rock and roll. His ability to evolve as a producer allowed him to work with future stars Jeff Beck, Kenny Rogers, Celine Dion, and Cheap Trick. George died in 2016 at the age of 90, but his legacy continues to be heard every day on your favorite radio station.
