Cyndi Lauper and Steven Tyler Up For the Tony Awards

The Tony award is a significant honor, often times given to stars that you wouldn’t suspect would ever be in the running for a Broadway award. For example, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” Cyndi Lauper are nominated for a 2018 Tony. Cyndi co-wrote an original song that is being recognized as ‘Best Original Score’ (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre.

The dynamic duo of Tyler & Perry wrote a tune called “Bikini Bottom Boogie,” that has earned them a Tony nod. Others in the mix for the Tony this year are Yolanda Adams, Sara Bareilles, The Flaming Lips, They Might Be Giants, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, and Panic! at the Disco ‘SpongeBob Square Pants: The Musical’ has earned a total of 12 Tony nominations, including ‘Best Musical.’ The 2018 Tony Awards will be broadcast live Sunday the 10th of June, on CBS.
