Often times when we think of classic rock or classic hits, we think of the 60s and 70s. The 80s gave us some righteous songs as well. Here’s part one of our ‘Classics’ from the 80s…

“Livin’ on a Prayer” became a stadium staple, with the boys enjoying loud crowds and a memorable hook. The blue collar songs of the 80s were definitely this tune.

“Rock You Like a Hurricane’ from the German band Scorpions was played by all the FM stations and proved to have a longer shelf life than any of their other songs.

“What I Like About You” from the Romantics was all about the red leather outfits. OMG! This Motown band stayed around long enough to make a fair amount of money in the 80s.

“Money for Nothing” was the perfect MTV song from Dire Straits, proving Mark Knopfler the scuffle-guitar king of his generation.

“Don’t Stop Believing” is the single best song from the 80s that has taken on a life of its own in every sporting venue since its release. Journey is arguably the gold standard of 80s bands with this memorable single defining a cult following of kids with chips on their shoulders.
