On Tuesday night, July 16th, Chance The Rapper made a visit to he Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to unveil the cover art, title and release date of his forthcoming set, but only after the TV host pre-ordered the album during their chat.

Chance told the NBC studio audience he’d struck a deal with Fallon where he’d share information on the album, on the proviso that Jimmy would buy it at ChanceRaps.com. Naturally, Fallon obliged.

The cover art for The Big Day features a left hand holding a translucent compact disc.

The new LP is a big deal for Chance. “I haven’t sold my projects before. All my mixtapes were free,” he explained. His earlier mixtapes Acid Rap and 10 Day were made available via retail and on streaming services for the first time in late June. Acid Rap went on to bow at No. 5 on the Billboard, and 10 Day arrived at No. 73.

The hip-hop star made history in May 2016 with his independently-released mixtape Coloring Book, which debuted and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming the first streaming-exclusive set to crack the tally.
