The Internet broke on Wednesday when it was announced that Brent Musburger would be retiring from announcing effective the end of January. After many years of being a part of the MLB, NBA, college sports and NASCAR world, he has decided to hang up the head set.

Musburger was born in May of 1939 and we’re sure he never thought he’d be known by millions. He was born in Oregon, but move to Billings, Montana where he grew up around sports. In the 50s he was a minor league baseball umpire before he decided to get into sports broadcasting.

For many years he would work for The NFL Today on CBS where he was made famous. He would move on to ABC and ESPN in 1990 where he would finish his career announcing all of the big matchups throughout the years. Sure, he had infamous moments surrounding Katherine Webb and Joe Mixon over the years, but he was one of the biggest names in sports for as long as we can remember.

Thank you Brent for all that you did for the many sports we love and we hope retirement is exactly what you hope it is. You sir are a legend!
