On Monday morning, a piece of the Harvey Weinstein puzzle has been solved when his trial found him guilty of committing a criminal sex act in the first degree involving one woman and rape in the third degree involving another woman.

Jurors deliberated for more than 26 hours over five days before reaching a verdict Monday morning. Weinstein is looking at a minimum of five years and a maximum of more than two decades in prison. Immediately after the verdict, Harvey was taken into custody in handcuffs. His sentencing is scheduled for March 11th, 2020.

Supporters of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements said the decision marks a “new era of justice.”
A New York jury acquitted Weinstein, 67, on the more serious charges of predatory sexual assault involving the two women, Miriam Haley and Jessica Mann.

For the charge of criminal sex act in the first degree, he faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 25 years in prison.

Weinstein also faces charges of sexual assault and rape in separate incidents in Los Angeles. That date has not been scheduled, but seeking justice on Harvey is long from over, this is only the beginning.
