As we’ve recently talked about, the MTV Video Music Awards are occurring this August and the nominations have come out. We’re not shocked by many of the nominations, but we should recognize how amazing it is that Beyonce has received 11 of them this year. In fact, she has joined an elite class of women in the business to receiver 10+ nominations.
The list only goes five deep now, but it includes some of the biggest names over the last 30-plus years in the music industry. Janet Jackson was nominated for 11 VMAs in 1995, while Lady Gaga has 13 in 2010. Katy Perry tore it up in 2011 with 10 nominations and Taylor Swift was nominated for 10 nominations in 2015. Now, Beyonce’s 11 nominations in 2016 makes her the fifth female ever to see 10 or more at the VMAs!
