Behind this Week’s CMA Nominations

Luke Bryan announced this year’s CMS Nominations, with a few surprises in the overall news. It seems county music lovers and local radio stations still love artist Chris Stapleton, a man with five nominations, while Kacey Musgraves, Keith and Luke look to do well the night of the celebration, Wednesday, November 14th, on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

What did surprise many fans is the continued dominance or men in the nominees, and so very little diversity. The biggest lesson learned by stars and CMA observes is the simple truth that local radio drives popularity and record sales. Said differently, if you want to win a CMA this year, you had better learn to write a song that gets played on local radio stations. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the celebrated awards show for the 11th consecutive time, a record on to itself.
