At the Paris menswear and Haute Couture Shows last month, people started taking note of splashes of “Barbie Pink” coming off the runways. Well it seems that we don’t have to wait for spring to get our hands on it, because it’s already showing up in celebrity style and on the streets.

You’ve probably seen the $1,500-a-pop photos of Rihanna in a pink Chanel Fall 1996 puffer, low-rise jeans and a 1980s Christian Lacroix gold cross necklace, walking down the streets of Harlem with A$AP Rocky to announce her pregnancy, yes? The look itself was almost as viral as the news of the Fenty bébé. The very next day, Jennifer Lopez was in the New York Times wearing an oversized, floor-length puffer and strapless gown in similar shades of pink, both from H&M’s Innovation Circular Design Story collection; and, across the pond in London, “West Side Story” star Ariana DeBose donned a pink fuzzy overcoat that had walked the Valentino Haute Couture runway only a week prior.

It appears everyone is feeling like a shot of electric Barbie pink is exactly what we all need to jump our winter wardrobes (and our moods) out of the frigid doldrums. Whether it’s as a pop in the form of a bag or heel that stands out against a black overcoat or a head-to-toe color story, it’s about adding some nostalgia-tinged energy to the dreariness of the season.

Now, you could buy some Swarovski Barbie Pink Lucent Hoop earrings for $350, warm up with Stand Studio’s Pink Gwen Coat for $650, or really splurge on a Christopher John Rogers Oversized Button-Detailed Wool Midi Shirt Dress for $1,575. But following this trend doesn’t have to cost a mint. The Gap has an “Organic Cotton Big Shirt” in sizes XXS to XXL for just $60, the Ugg Tasman x Waterproof Clog is $80, and you can pick up a JW Pei Fei bag for $79.

However you decide (or can afford to) jump on the Barbie Pink train, you’ll be right in style this winter season.

Should you Replace your Light Bulbs to Save Money?

You probably already have a home maintenance checklist: Replace the furnace filter each season, shut off water spigots before winter, clean the gutters, etc. That's a good start, but there are jobs that homeowners often forget about, or don't even know about. For example, have you thought about replacing your Light Bulbs? New lighting technology has really come a long ways. Now although they do cost more than traditional incandescent […]
