Bad Company Back on Tour and 3 Facts About Them

It’s hard to believe Bad Company is 40+ years old, and the boys are out again on tour. It’s also hard to believe that founding member, guitarist and key songwriter Mick Ralphs, is not with the band this time around. Rich Robinson of the famed ‘Black Crowes’ will step in behind the kit to play in Mick’s absence. You may have heard legendary axe man Joe Walsh has joined Bad Company on the road this summer.

Mick Ralphs was born in England in 1944 and began playing rock n’ roll in the mid-60s with a band called ‘The Buddies.’ He later joined the (not) famous Mod Doc Thomas Group, then Mott the Hoople, eventually founding Bad Company with former Free lead singer Paul Rogers.

Here are three lesser known Mick Ralphs fun facts…

Mick’s given birth name is Michael Geoffrey Ralphs, and other than Simon Kirke has been with the band each time they re-formed.

Kick and Paul wrote most of the Bad Company songs, but it was Mick that penned the biggest and earliest hits ‘Can’t Get Enough,” “Good Lovin Gone Bad,” and “Movin On.”

Finally, Mick was close personal friends with the late George Harrison (they were actually neighbors in Oxfordshire, England) and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd.
