Never put something down in writing or in an email, as it will last forever and may come back to haunt you. During the height of the Beatles, email wasn’t conceived yet, but letters were, and a letter to Sir Paul McCartney from John Lennon has resurfaced.

A typewritten 1971 letter from John was found as a biddable item in a Boston auction, written by John shortly after the official breakup of the Beatles, scolding Paul for his ‘larger than life’ opinion of the significance of the Beatles. It also criticized him for his wife’s Linda’s response to John leaving the band in the manner in which he did. John Lennon never publicly announced that he was out, leaving the remaining members in disgust.

Died hard Beatles fans are aware of the actual letter from 1971, but now it’s real and has been auctioned off last week. The item sold for nearly $30,000 to an anonymous bidder from Dallas TX.
