A Surprising List of Rockers That are True Artists

What do you think most rockers do when they’re off the road and not in the studio recording? We imagine them playing polo on a private island, bought years ago. In reality, many talented, right brain artists, are indeed ‘artists.’

Here are a few accomplished painters that double as rockers…

Grace Slick is a ferocious painter in the San Francisco area having shown her works of art for over 17 years.

John Mellencamp’s books; Mellencamp: Paintings and Reflections and Nothing like I Planned: The Art of John Mellencamp were published with his art, and have been displayed in Tennessee.

David Bowie had been a painter his whole life, and in the 1990s was a contributor and critic for the Modern Painter Magazine.

Cat Stevens, a/k/a Yusuf Islam, studied in the world of art as a young man, and painted illustrations for the children’s book Teaser and the Fire Cat in 1971.

Bernie Taupin who has often put on ‘one man shows’ in update New York, is an accomplished painter.
