Does somebody have a case of the ‘Mondays”? Okay, it’s the worst day of the week. Here are your music headlines in the hopes of cheering you up…

Politics and unauthorized playing of songs back in the news this week, as Neil Young, Queen, Springsteen, REO Speedwagon, and the O’Jays are all steaming over the RNC using their songs during the recent GOP convention. The estate of George Harrison are hopping mad about the use of ‘Here Comes the Sun,” and is contemplating legal remedies.

The original bassist for Booker T and the MGs has died. Lewie Steinberg can be heard on all the early songs, helping bring the Memphis or Muscle Shoals sound to fame died at the age of 82. Stax records has suffered additional losses recently with the deaths of Horns trumpet player Wayne Jackson, Mack Rice (writer of the Staples Singers “Respect Yourself) and Johnny Taylor.

Joe Perry, who collapsed on stage a few weeks ago, is back with Johnny Depp and the Hollywood Vampires on tour.
