How to Stack Firewood – The RIght Way

Did you know there’s a firewood stacking technique that allows the wood to season, or dry, a whole lot faster?  It’s true!

Most people place firewood in one row, all the way across, and they work their way up with the same pattern.  That’s SO last century.  Think about it:  if all the firewood is stacked in one direction, it’s hard for the air to get through, and you’ll want fresh-cut firewood to season at least six to nine months, maybe longer if it’s really green — really wet.

Instead, try stacking your firewood in alternating courses — that is, in opposite directions, row by row (think along the lines of Lincoln Logs) — and you continue that pattern, there’s much more space for the air to circulate.  Your wood will not only stay dry, but your wood pile will be more structurally sound as well.

Go ahead, give it a try!
