Bruce Springsteen’s upcoming solo album, Western Stars, is due June 14th of this year. And on Thursday, May 30th, The Boss unveiled the music video for “Tucson Train,” the third preview track from the album. The project is promised to be inspired by the Southern California pop records of the late ’60s and early ’70s, and focus on “character-driven songs and sweeping orchestral arrangements.”

“We fought hard over nothin’/ We fought til nothin’ remained/ I’ve carried that nothin’ for a long time/ Now I carry my operator’s license/ And spend my day just runnin’ this crane/ My baby’s comin’ in on the Tucson train,” he sings with a twang in the black-and-white visual. Accompanied by a string and horn section and a train track beat, the mid-tempo love song about waiting for a lover to arrive mixes anxiety, anticipation and regret in a lush Wall of Sound-style arrangement.

Springsteen previously released the Roy Orbison-like “There Goes My Miracle” and melancholy “Hello Sunshine.”
