Step aside, straight lines; when looking at the hottest 2019 home design trends, it’s all about embracing your curves.

Over the past few months, design blogs, stylish furniture designers, and cool spaces like The Wing have ditched the boxy furniture (so last year) for hip pieces with soft lines and rounded edges.  And why not?  Curvy furniture hits the sweet spot between modern and feminine, and energize a room in a way their square counterparts can’t. And when draped in cheery colors or plush fabrics? Even better.

Interior Designer Kim Scodro’s new collection with Pearson is all about the curve, with graceful lines and beautiful textures (think plush velvet and rounded edges). “There will always be a market for soft lines and a gentle palette,” the designer says. “Our clients are looking for a calm, peaceful space, and soft lines,  soft color, and gentle metals help create that.” As an added bonus, curved pieces naturally have a more welcoming feel. What’s not to love?

“Next year, embrace a curvy design aesthetic,” says interior designer Anne Hepfer. “1970’s-inspired rounded furniture will continue to take over. Rounded back chairs are a chic way to bring the curvy trend into your home.”
