Mariano Rivera Stands Alone Again

Mariano Rivera stands alone again; first as the last player to wear the retired number 42 and now as the only player ever voted in unanimously to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Along with Rivera, Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez and Mike Mussina were revealed Tuesday night in the most recent Hall of Fame class. Combined with the selections of Harold Baines and Lee Smith by the Today’s Game Era Committee in December, it’ll be a six-man class for the July 21 induction ceremony in Cooperstown, N.Y.
