1942 – Count Basie and His Orchestra recorded “One O’Clock Jump.”

1957 – Singer Patsy Cline appeared on Arthur Godfrey’s nighttime TV show. She performed “Walking After Midnight.”

1957 – Chuck Berry recorded “School Day.”

1957 – Filming began on Elvis Presley’s second movie, “Loving You.”

1962 – Jackie Wilson appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”

1966 – George Harrison and Patricia Anne Boyd were married. Patty eventually left Harrison for Eric Clapton.

1968 – The soundtrack to “The Graduate” was released.

1982 – B.B. King donated his entire record collection to the University of Mississippi’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture. The collection included about 20,000 rare blues records.

1984 – Jackie Wilson died after being in a coma for 8 years.

1984 – Bon Jovi’s debut album was released in the U.S.

1987 – Aretha Franklin was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. She was the first woman to be inducted.
