Olivia Munn Hails Chanel’s New “No Fur” Fashion

Lately the decision makers at major fashion houses like Versace, Michael Kors, Gucci, Burberry, and Coach have all become increasingly animal-friendly in their policies and practices, and now Chanel has joined the list of high-end designers to stop using real fur and exotic animal skins in their luxury designs.

An agent for the brand clarifies the choice was made to a limited extent since it is becoming “increasingly difficult” to source materials that meet their moral principles and requirements for sustainability, demanding the new ban will furnish designers with a chance to make another generation of high-end products.

Olivia Munn, a long-time animal rights activist, has hailed the designer’s decision. “This is AMAZING!!!! @chanel,” she gushed on Twitter, posting her comments along with a PETA news article about the initiative. She likewise posted a screen capture of the remark on Instagram, and subtitled it, “I hope this inspires more designers to follow suit.”

Animal-lover Munn has been approaching fashion industry experts for years to stop the utilization of fur in their pieces of clothing. She even went naked for PETA’s ‘I would rather go naked than wear fur” campaign in 2011. “Who needs fur to feel beautiful?” she asked in the print advertisement.
