Fans had been highly anticipating Rod Stewart’s iHeartRadio Live performance in Burbank, CA. And as a stage hand brought Stewart’s microphone stand to the front of the stage on Tuesday evening, that simple action alone elicited audience applause.
At 7 o’clock, the man of the hour took center stage for a very intimate performance featuring songs from the recently released Blood Red Roses, his 30th studio album, and classic gems from his catalog. Also livestreamed on iHeartRadio’s official YouTube channel and broadcast across the company’s AC stations, the show got off to a rollicking start with two numbers from Roses: “Look in Her Eyes” and “Hole in My Heart.”
Rounding out the set with spirited audience sing-alongs to enduring faves “You’re in My Heart,” “Some Guys Have All the Luck” and “Forever Young,” Stewart underscored what he told host and KOST Los Angeles morning personality Ellen K during the show’s Q&A segments: “I truly love what I do.”
Stewart is currently wrapping up his latest residency engagement at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (November 21st-December 2nd).
