Test and Fix Holiday Lights the Easy Way

Have you just spent an hour (or two) carefully adorning your Christmas Tree only to flip the switch and find out that %*$#! light strand doesn’t work?  Here’s are a couple of fantastic, easy-to-use options for you to try:

First, you should always have a holiday light tester and repair kit on hand for just such emergencies.  You can find them online or at your local home repair or hardware store for around $20.  The  LightKeeper Pro is one of the most recognized and easy-to-use brands available.  It’ll identify and oftentimes fix most problems in miniature and icicle light sets with a few squeezes of the trigger.  has a detector that pinpoints the problem spot, then the trigger sends a pulse to activate a defective shunt and fixes the circuit.  It even comes with an LED Head Light to help you see more easily, and a bulb-puller to help get out those tight bulbs from their sockets.

Unfortunately this handy-dandy device doesn’t work on sets of larger or LED lights.  It’s generally pretty easy to tell which bulb is out on the larger, outdoor C7 strands.  Those just require you to have a supply of backup bulbs for easy screw-in replacement. But if you’ve invested in a lot of LED Light strands, you may want to invest in the LED Keeper, which does the find-and-fix for you, at a cost of around $25.Now you’ll make sure that lighting debacle never happens to you again.  As long as you remember to use these first.
